Course Description

The book “Introduction to Statistics and Probability for Engineering and Pure Sciences,” written by Sheldon M. Ross.

Class pages and teaching assistants:

  • Questions and answers, class discussions, and news related to the course, as well as uploading exercise solutions, are all done through the Quera website.
  • The schedule for exercise sessions will be announced later.
  • The head teaching assistant is Arman Malekzadeh (email: [email protected]).

Exercises and exams:

  • The course includes 6 theoretical exercise series and possibly one practical exercise.
  • Time: Saturdays and Tuesdays, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM.
  • Location: Class A1, Ibn Sina Building.
  • Each exercise has a non-extendable deadline of 10 days, and the maximum allowable delay is 2 days. A 25% reduction in score will be applied for each day of delay (linear reduction during these 2 days).
  • Practical exercises (if any) will have a separate schedule, which will be announced later. Exercises conflicting with the midterm exam will have an additional 2 days deadline extension.
  • A midterm exam will be held in the second week of Ordibehesht month (exact times will be announced later).

Assessment

  • Midterm: 7 Points
  • Final: 8 Points
  • Assignments: 5 Points
  • Practical Assignment with R: +1 point
